Explain trumpeting in Haddoni's

How often is it doing it?

Info about your tank would help -- size, lights, how long set up, inhabitants, parameters, and how long you have had the Haddoni.

Once in a while, mostly while expelling waste, isn't a big deal and normal. I have also seen it when they are spawning. But, to be doing it all the time, isn't normal. I would think of it like when mushrooms do it when there isn't enough light.

not all the time- honestly I dont know how often it really does it. tank is 300+ display 100+ sump, 4 250w DE's, 8 x 64w actinic, tank mates are varied- sargassum trigger, pair of percs(not hosting this nem) melanarus wrasse, royal gramma, 2 chalk basslets, long nose butterfly, tuka anthias, lyretail anthias, mandrin, I think thats most of em. sps, lps etc........

params are spot on-

tank has been up 14 months now.

the haddoni has been in captivity for 3+ years I have had him for 3 months.

knock on wood the butterfly keep his distance though I have seen him pluck food from the haddoni. I would hate to loose that fish he is a favorite! But the Haddoni trumps everything else in the tank! :D Is it normal to not quite be as inflated after lights out? he shrinks up a bit-

Yea, it is normal for them to shrink up a bit after the lights are off.

While these aren't the same day pics, should give you an idea.

Mainly of the Clarkii pair, but can still get an idea of the Haddoni, lights off
