My wife wants me to get one of these and I am wondering if there is anything I should know. They seem to be reef safe, is this true? What will they do to my inverts?

Thanks

I have 5 different fairy wrasses and none of them have ever touched one of my inverts, all of my fish love to eat mysis, brine, and my scott's like nori. I think Fairy wrasses are probably the most reef-safe fishes you can find although you might want to have a cover since they like to jump. What other fish do you have in your tank? I have also noticed you never see a exquisite wrasse that looks like the pictures you see on the websites.

I agree, I've lost one wrasse to about a 1 inch gap in the back of the tank. Covering the tank is a must. At first they seem very shy but should warm up to their new home after 2 weeks or so.

Bi-color blenny
Yellow Tang
Maroon clown
2 X yellow head sleepr gobies
Royal Gramma

do you have a recommendation for a fairy wrasse that would be better than the exquisite? I want something interesting and vibrant that gives more life to the tank.

How much money are you willing to spend? If your willing to spend some more, Liveaquaria has an e-mail special of $129 for a Lineatus Fairy wrasse. But I think a fish that looks better and is the same price as a Exquisite is a C. Rubrimarginatus or Red Margin wrasse they are better looking then a exquisite in my opinion. Also look at a Labouti's wrasse. Heres a picture of the red margin, that site is way too pricey in my opinion I got one from my LFS for 44.99 I just used it because they have the best pictures.http://www.marinecenter.com/fish/wrassereefsafe/redmarginfairywrasse/
