Exquisite Wrasses, any input?

Hi all, I'm new to Reef Central so I'm hoping this goes to the right place.... I'm thinking about picking up an exquisite wrasse... I've kept a variety of wrasses so I know enough to know they look great and are fairly easy to keep... I ask because I just lost a timor wrasse that wouldn't leave the sand bed so I'm a bit gun-shy with a wrasse that's new to me. Any input on care requirements or general advice on wrasse keeping?

Exquisite wrasses are generally pretty hardy and peaceful. They benefit from multiple feedings a day and, and as with all wrasses require a cover to prevent jumping.

The exquisite wrasse does not need a sand bed, but instead sleeps in the rocks and secretes a mucous coccoon.

An exquisite wrasse is a colorful active reef inhabitant.

If you find a nice specimen an exquisite wrasse is just that. Exquisite. My lfs had an African that was pretty nice. Most of the fairy wrasses are pretty hardy fish

I was looking at the Vanuatu one but I've never seen one at my LFS. I've seen Fiji and African before, I may try to put in an order.... So their life span is especially short? I've never heard that. Any reason you say that?

One other thing to consider with a n exquisite wrasse is that if you keep one male and no other fairy wrasses, your male is going to lose a lot of its really vibrant colors. Without the presence of females or other male fairy wrasses the colors will become more muted much like the female coloration. They are one of my favorite fairy wrasses and when they "display" it is out of this world.

Ok, thanks a lot. I will keep this all in mind when I'm looking for one. I may just try to find a young one and hope tat it ends up turning into a super male.
