Extending wires from switched outlet to osmolator controller box

I want to add the switched socket outlet to my osmolator to control a peristaltic pump in my garage for my top off water. May I ask how much longer can the two wires from the switched socket to the osmolator control box be extended?

If you use a higher gauge wire and make sure to turn up the potentiometer for pump speed in the controller, a very long length, 20 or so feet should not be an issue. Do keep in mind that their is a 10 minute time limit on fills, this can be a problem with peristaltic pumps as they are very slow. After 10 minutes you will get a too low error and it will shut down.
