external pump in vertical position?

Can this be done? It is a Pan World 50px. It would be much easier for my limited space if I could mount above the tank and not have to allow space for the bulkhead.

As you can see there is 0" space to the sides and not much behind but, I could easily fit it above.

You have to mount the pump below the water line of the sump because the pump can't pull water, it can only push.

when you are limited on space, its best to use a internal pump, and another point, don't forget about maintenance, ect
