External Pump Suggestion...

Jeremy,

I am looking to add the final piece to my lenghty build and I am in need of an external pump for my closed loop.

The CL is drilled in the back of my 70g Acrylic (Katrina's old tank)Has one intake(center) pumped back up rougly 4 feet to two seperate corner returns bulkehead and Loc-Lined.

What would be a good flowing pump for this application and one that I could use a ball valve to restrict flow if desired without causing problems. I would hope not to add much heat to the equation either.

I was thinking of the Panworld 50pxx or maybe a Velocity T4(I hear they add heat). I like the price on those models, but would consider others. I thought that 1100-1200 GPH after the head pressure would be about right, but I am most often wrong.....

Thanks,
Mike

sry to just butt in on your post but mind if you write a short review on the panworld if you get it?? im really considering that same pump but would like some feedback from that pump.. like noise, heat and so on...

I think both the PanWorld and the Velocity would work in this application. If you could handle the heat issue, I would lean towards the Velocity, just from a noise stand point. The PanWorld's are not loud by any means, but the Velocity pumps are just completely dead silent.

What size of bulkhead do you have drilled in the back?

The bulkeads are fit for 3/4" plumbing...both the intake and 2 returns.

I was currently going to run it with soft plumbing. Using barb fittings and 3/4 ID pressure rated tubing.
