I have been putting this off for some time now, but I need to rearrange my basement due to my 11 month old son's increasing mobility so it's time for this to go.
I have a 180 gallon tank with stand that was custom made by Aquarium Obsessed. The tank is 60" long X 24" tall X 30" deep. It is 3/4" Starfire glass with euro-bracing around the edge. It also has a black starboard bottom. It has an overflow in each back corner with 1 1/4" drains and 1" returns. The stand is an open aluminum frame.
Here's the story: In 2007 I bought my first house and was ready to upgrade from my 120 gallon All-Glass to the tank of my dreams. I spent about a year researching and preparing for this purchase. I ordered the tank for $2200 and the stand for $500 more. The tank was delivered and sat in my garage for about 6 months while I finished prepping the area the tank was going to go. When I was ready to bring the tank in I hired a LFS to do it. The tank was put in place and everything was good, so I thought. Several hours after the movers left I realized there was a tiny chip in the front left top corner of the tank. At this time, I also noticed a tiny crack that ran about 2" down the corner of the front of the glass. Of course I was devastated. The tank sat empty for a couple of months while I tried to figure out what to do. Mike (owner of Reef Specialty) lived in my neighborhood at the time and I had him come over to give me some advice. When he looked at the tank and saw how heavy duty it was and where the crack was he said he would have no problem using the tank. After Mike's reassurance I filled the tank up and had it running for about two years. Unfortunately, like many of us, I started finding less time and energy to maintain my beloved tank so I shut it down.
I held onto the tank just in case I wanted to start up again, but I have even less time and energy for it now and with my 11 month old starting to crawl all over the place, I could use the space it takes up.
I'm asking $500 for the tank and stand. Even with the crack this is a steal. I don't know how to upload pictures here, but if anyone is seriously interested they can email me for pictures at makdoogle@hotmail.com. It is difficult to describe the crack exactly, but it's not bad at all. I feel 100% comfortable with this tanks ability to hold water and would have no problem filling it up again. The rest of the tank is in great condition with no visible scratches. Best way to get a hold of me is my email. I live in Chicago by Midway Airport.
