I was wondering the same thing. I don't do FB, but my wife does and I checked there once in a while. Not sure where the Rochester community goes now? R2R is pretty quiet.
It's more then quiet. It's Dead. Back in the day, upstate Reef society was one of the biggest or most posts on reef central.
There were 2 Facebook groups but one got deleted for some reason. Most likely Facebook"˜s strict policy of no selling animals (corals or fish).
Not a facebooker, wish this forum would resurrect! I troll reef 2 reef but over there it’s all about crayola colors and fancy equipment, I’m still reefing like its 1999.
Check out the join dates of those on this thread....
Easier ways to communicate.
Social media. Namely: facebook, messenger, etc.
The local reefing scene is probably more active than ever (as witnessed by several frag fests per year).
Picture sharing is/was always a large part of my personal way of posting.
Sharing pix/videos on fb is a breeze.
Not as easy to share on bulletin boards.
Apparently others feel the same way.
All bulletin board type formats have lost traffic to social media.
Same here, been probably over a year away from the group. Tanks have gone to hell in a handbasket and I'm hoping to do a hard reboot this month. Once things turned to crap I kindof lost interest in the forums.
Where the hell are all the threads?? I can find old stuff if I do a search (for example, searching for "cooking" brings up the epic rock reincarnation thread) but I only see 7 threads in the URS forum list. What the heck?!?!?
Bulletin boards more user friendly on PC/laptops.
Nowadays, I usually work off my smartphone.
Phones lend themselves to social media such as book of faces
I have never used bookface. I may be missing out. I have been out for 8 years! after poking around it is shocking how desolate all of reefcental is. I looked for stuff going on in NC and those forums are quiet as well.
Are forums a thing of the past? Maybe I need to do Facebook?
