faded clown color

I recently rescue a 3 inch clown from a poorly run tank (neighbor), the bright orange color has totally faded and turn to dull light orange. From my observation for more then 3 weeks, it seem healthy.
of course I will let the QT run is time before figuring how to add him to my 6 clowns already.

I was wondering will the bright orange come back again?

Definitely keep him in the QT for a while, he may be a little sick if his color is draining. It could also depend on what his diet is. Did you change up his diet from what he used to eat?

Good point, what was he/she eating before? If anything try to get him/her securly on misys shrimp and try to see if there are any charateristics that could lead to a diaognosis on a sickness (if it has one).

I would try mysis, some ora-glo pellets if you can get them, and maybe some selcon for the mysis. This helped my clowns color!

From my observation, really no sickness. Waste is normal, eats normal, swims normal. I think he was fed with marine pellets from hikari and in water in excess of 200 nitrate pass my test.

I'm going to try some ora-glo pellets. I did change to mysis with kent Zoe, vitachem added once I had it in my qt tank.

Realize that if clownfish are under stress, it will also cause their color to fade. A high water quality environment where the fish are not being picked on will help a lot - but can take a couple of months before their color returns to normal!
