Fair trade

I'm going to be doing a local trade and I want to make sure it's fair for both partys, I'm terrible with coral value. He is proposing straight across 1 captain American (mine) for his red or purple hornet

As long as the hornets are the real deal, you are getting the better end of this deal. Do it before he changes his mind.

Are you REALLY trading 1 polyp of anything??????????????????????????????????? if so good luck!

I don't know anyone who would wish to buy an entire colony of Captain Americas, or Red hornets - for their price..

We can't help the cost of them, so trading polyp for polyp sounds like the best choice

The chances of survival is rather slim with one polyp or two or even three..I have no idea what these polyps look like, where they are from and I might even have some of them. Selling super small polyp frags is ill advised IMHO. Some might make it but most will not..and then you have nothing but a BEAUTIFUL frag plug. good luck in your one polyp trade!

I trade for colors I don't have or just for stuff I like.
If your trying to make this a investment,,,, good luck with that

Totally disagree! If fragged carefully there should be no problems...some peeps just get fed up and are bitter about higher-priced corals. It will always be like this.

Don't let the haters get ya down OP!

About 6 months ago I bought a polyp of rasta, blue hornet and a red halo. Hornets have since grown to 15 polyps, the rastas I traded, and the red halo has remained 1 polyp with 2 babies.

They hAven't grown fast but they didnt die.

I also am nuetral, I tend to go for 3-8 polyp frags depending on price b/c if one polyp doesnt make it there are at least 2 others to keep the colony alive. but I have seen 1 polyp frags do just fine with a ~90% survival rate and I have had 10 polyp frags never open and melt away so it varies. one thing I have noticed though is with micro polyps the more the better this is just my experience but I have had 2-3 polyp frags of micro zoes never open and fade away too often. I am now letting my tank mature for a bit before trying micros again.

2+ polyp frag when buying/trading. ALWAYS get an "insurance" polyp or two. just to play it safe....

but people love thier singles....

Check online etailers of the average cost of CPA's compared to the going rate of RH's and PH's. Also consider their growth rate, survivability (Shipping ) and how well they do in peoples tanks also factor in supply and demand in your area. Some places the same polyps are dime a dozen while others is like a barren wasteland where the collectors there hardly have it. Then decide for your self if it really is so.

He has one polyp, you have one polyp. Both parties taking the same chance of the one polyp dieing. Ifs it a polyp you want, I say go for it. It would be nice to have an insurance polyp, but it is what it is.

one polyp and superglue VS hermit crab..........................and the winner crab!!!!!!!! and one lost polyp! That is just one scenario
I wish you the best of luck either way! Keep us posted
