fairy harem experiences?

hello all, i am getting ready to start a harem of fairy wrasses, my question is how many is a good number? i thinking one male, that is a given, and 4 females, i was seeing if anyone had pics of their own harem, i have not noticed anyone on here really having any but i may have missed the thread/not able to search due to server load.

so does anyone have personal experiences with this kind of combo?
and does anyone have pics of this?
the fairy that i am thinking about is the pyles wrasse.

i think there are a few on here that have done that..but you don't see it as much due to the fact you don't see females for sale that often and when you do it is one or two..but i am thinking of droping all my fish in the 180 and do a harem of scotts if i could ever find females..but doing that will help keep the male palei colored up nice..the seem to lose color quite a bit without females..but i would love to see some pics if there are anyone out there with a harem..i also think your number is good

ok you were one of the ones i was waiting for to chime in, if you want i may be able to get you those females in the numbers you want. pm me for more information. yeah my palei has not lost too much color but i did see one pair in one of our lfs and they were amazing!!!

I have 1 male Jordani with 4 females, 1 male and 3 female Lineatus, 1 male and 2 female rhomboids, and 1 male and 2 female pyles wrasses in my 2 tanks. The only problem I had with them was that the Pyles were very aggressive towards anything similar to the point the killed my Rhomboids and had to get some new ones. I did have one female Lineatus turn male even with a supermale in the tank with him. Other then that having a big tank will help out.

I have harem of flames. 1 male, 3 different sized females. Female fairy wrasses can be more aggressive than males.

but 4 females, isnt that enough to keep the fighting down? do you have a lot of aggression in your tank?

i will agree with Steve alot of females are more aggerssive..i have only kept a few and the ones i kept were not too bad

oh man! i really need to see if anyone has pics of a harem. i was thinking of doing a harem of conde's fairy wrasses but finding females is really tough.

I carefully sized the females so they were all of different size. There are squabbles but nothing serious. One is clearly dominant and would change to male in a heartbeat. I hope that does not happen. The absolutely most aggressive females are Scotts, but flames (Jordani) are a close second. although I have a lot of experience with fairies, I like the flashers better by far.

nope.....i have never seen any type of aggression from them at all. all are very mellow towards each other. they have been together for 8 months or so.
