WOW... you musta spent like 1000$ lol.. nicely spent :) Those are some beauties though.

Bronco,

What are your experiences with male flame wrasses? I have heard that they never last long in captivity (true males) because of some internal parasite (trematodes maybe?) only found in Hawaiian endemic fairies. The symptoms are supposedly, everything is perfect for a couple months, then they stop eating (randomly) and then die shortly there after....

I shipped a supermale a while ago to a friend and it did exactly that - ate like a pig for 2 months, stopped eating then died (but he did have an ICH outbreak in his systems)

I have had mine for about 2 1/2 months now. My dad takes care of them and says he greets him at the tank everytime he feeds and he eats like a pig. Im worried that he may die due to these common stmptons of male flames.

i also shipped him a pair for a doctors office next door to his LFS, and the same thing happened with the male - great for 2 months, then died... females do great though..

Any thoughts? (anyone can chime in as well)

Thanks!

I am interested to know too... Getting a pair of Jordani in a few months...

Lost my Rosy Fin over the weekend. Must have had some sort of internal parasite, ate like a pig, but kept losing weight. It is too bad, was my favorite wrasse. At least all my other wrasse are doing great.

What a bummer... the rosy fins are really cool fish. I just released my pair into the display a few days ago from QT. They're still really shy and only come out to eat. Hopefully they'll start coming out more often and become less camera shy!

can you put a dottyback with a mystery and rosy fin wrasse?

I believe that the Orchid Dotty is the only one calm enough to house with Fairy Wrasses. The other species will end up killing hte fairy's.

HELP.. female flame not lookin right

HELP.. female flame not lookin right

Hi Guys

I noticed my female flame wrasse was acting weird last few days... heavy breathing....she seemed to have been eating fine though...but today, she was still breathing heavy, and although she ate, i noticed her almost like choking on the food... and then a couple of times i was noticing her loose her bouyancy... she wouldnt float upside down, i would just see her body start to float up, but then she regains her balance and swims off fine.

Any ideas? sorry dont have pics ...no signs of ick or any external parasite as far as i can tell..other fish are all fine.

G

looks like a female to me...or male in need of female company ;)

my female Flame was still acting weird yest and not feeding.. I am thinking she might be a gonner today.... sucks...

is it possible to keep a harem of rosy fin fairy wrasse, i already have a pair and planning on getting 3 more, problem is i couldnt tell a male from a female since they look very identical to me, thanks

good shippers?

good shippers?

Someone working at my LFS said that fairy wrasses don't ship well, but that if they survive they are sold quickly. Reading the posts that doesn't sound right. Also, I have a sixline wrasse due to my clams. Can I still get a wrasse?
