A couple of shots (flash) of my Cirrhilabrus rubrimarginatus, I think that is what it is. Has been in the tank for a week and still pretty shy.

brad23, I'd recommend possibly moving one of your wrasses from the QT out or putting the more aggresive one in a specimen cup within the tank. Also when you add them to the display tank, defintily add the exquisite first and let him get used to the surroundings before you add the painted.

However, from the picture the exquisite doesn't look too bad, but the stress may keep him/her hiding. Are they both eating ok?

definately a carpenter's. looks just like the one i picked up on friday. beautiful fish! ...and awesome pic!

He's eating a little, I've only had him three days now. He was comming out a lot more today. The painted fairy only gos after him if he gets to close.

I was thinking of using a small plastic container but wasn't sure how well the painted fairy wrasse would do in it?

Mike,
It looks like a McCoskers because of the single dorsal filament and the yellow ventral fins. Carpenter's usually have at least 3 dorsal filaments and red ventral fins. The ventral fins are a distinguishing mark for the Carpenters from the McCoskers. But since your guy still has mostly juvy colors it could go either way. These 2 are very closely related.

Ok I need some help here, I have a painted fairy and a exquiste In QT right now. 37g QT, the painted fairy has started to chase the exquisite wrasse around. Will they be ok?

They will be going in 75g in a few weeks; also I wanted to add an Australian Scotts wrasse. Would he work in the 75g?

I'm setting up a 180g.

It might be due to the similiar color that is causing the aggression...
Maybe provide more hiding place and try to put the newcomer in the betta tank for a few days and observe the old wrasse aggression.... Once the aggression lessen, you can introduce the new wrasse in...

Here is another one of my new guys. Don't know if it is a Carpenters or a McCoskers.

It could be Paracheilinus flavianalis...
Yellow-fin Flasher...

brad23, I know a lot of people acclimate their wrasses into their display tank (acclimate them to the other fish) in a "Breeder Cup" type thing with holes in it. As long as it is fairly large I'm pretty sure the wrasse will be fine. I know bronco is the pro at the breeder cup method :)

mccoskers flasher wrasses have one straight top fin, like so:
flasher_wrasse.jpg
this is a mccoskers from Melev's reef fish photos

this is a carpenters flasher wrasse, they have the same rounded tail, but instead of one top fin, they have three to four top spikes

I agree with smokes, all the mccoskers that i've seen that have the bright red anal fin only have one spike.
Here are mine :)
