ok, just rechecked... mine has a single top spike like the one pictured above, but it also has the yellow fin below like the "yellow fin" flasher. however, in the link posted about the yellow fin flasher, the pic shows 2 top spikes, not 1.

???

According to what I read on the web, it can have from 1 to 4 spikes with two being the most common.

A couple of shots (flash) of my Cirrhilabrus rubrimarginatus, I think that is what it is. Has been in the tank for a week and still pretty shy.

I was referring to the Paracheilinus flavianalis. Here is a couple of statements from Hiroyuki Tanaka on the species.

"The species has a single to four filaments on dorsal fin, but also possesses a yellow anal fin, therefore it was named Yellowfin FW.

It ranges Indonesia (Bali, Sulawesi to Flores) and off the coast of Western Australia. In Australia and Flores the males have a single filament, however most specimens available at shops have two to three filaments."

"The species is distinct also in having red filament(s), while in males of the relatives P. mccoskeri & P. carpenteri the filament(s) are yellow."

I have never had a fish ship come in DOA or die within a month of receiving from him. Altogether, I have ordered four flame wrasse, a golden rhombiodalis wrasse, a mystery wrasse, two potters angels, a Hawaiian cleaner wrasse, and a leaf fish. I'm pretty happy with Brian's service and pricing. I believe he is currently wrapping up on a collecting/diving trip in Micronesia. I'm also waiting for him to get back so I can order a pair of Helfrichi firefish.

Tom, absolutely beautiful, I have the following, Male Flame, mystery wrasse, hooded fairy, laboutei, lanceolatus, aust scotts, and a collins angel that eats. I been looking hard for a rhomboid ever since mine died from chemi-clean incident :( My LFS said he was getting a rhomboid in but apparently it never shipped in the hawaii shipment. Did get two helfrichi's but I think they would go carpet surfing through my egg crate. How big is that rhomboid?

about 3-3 1/2". he said he had around 30 or so rhomboids when i ordered mine. with him being gone for almost a month, I don't know who takes care of his tanks.

Hey Tom, how is that Hawaiian cleaner wrasses doing? They have a very bad reputation in captivity. Does it eat prepared foods? How long have you had it?

tom are your flame wrasses still alive? And if so how long have you had them.

Actually if you don't mind could you give us a track record of what all you have gotten and what you still have and those that are lost what took them out.

I would really appreciate it as I know other would as well.

right now I have the golden rhomboid, 1 pair of the flame wrasse and the mystery wrasse. I ordered all these four weeks ago because I had a near total loss of my fish and 40% of my corals during a tank crash on New Years this year. I was out on vacation in Colorado for a week when my top off system failed. Before that, I had maintained all the other fish from Brian for about two months and were eating my homemade preparations and Ocean Nutrition formula 1 small pellets. Brian had made sure all the fish were eating prepared foods before he shipped them out. I never did ask him what was in his fish food.

Buzzard, awsome looking flasher! here's one I had prior to the crash.

I have been real real fortunate with my Haiwaian Cleaner. I was trying to decide between two Fairies when I saw it in the shop (extra fish not ordered) and it ended all decision making. It took to mysis the first day. Problem though is its very picky about the individual piecesit will eat, and half the time its eyeing up a peice and it gets snatched away by someone else. Kind of funny in a way. I get around that by just thawing the cube in the tank. He Immediately comes over, flips upside down and goes to work on it. Except for the solerinsis he is the only one to eat out of my fingers. Also it will munch a little on Ocean nutrition's silversides because they scale then the innards are exposed and it goes for that.
Now if I could just get it to eat pellets

I have had a pair of flames for 4.5 months now which were caught by my friend here in Hawaii. I dont have any recent pics, but ill try to get my father to take some.

Hawaiian cleaners are so nice! I have caught a few (i dont like to, but someone requested it) and it ate mysis the first day!!! I couldn't believe it. I have had 6 total in my possession and all have eaten frozen. They tend to eat frozen more readily when they are with small fish and lots of them..

Tonga flame

Tonga flame

Beautiful wrasses guys. Here are three I have not seen posted yet. The first is what is being called a Tonga Flame. It looks similar to a Bath, but when seen with them looks very different. The second is a female lanceolatus. The third is an undescribed species that we were lucky enough to get a picture of in Fiji when the entire harem was present. If anyone knows what it is please let me know. Sorry if the photos are messed up, this is the first time I have tried to include pictures
