Someone ID my latest purchase please? Female solarensis?

My supplier got her in as misc. fairy wrasse, indo-pacific:) For 20 bucks, I couldn't pass it up. I was thinking it was a female solarensis, but was not sure.

Actually, the females are less common in our LFS so you got a hard to get item at an incredible price.

newbie luck, I guess, because I have a male already. It should be neat when i get her out of my pseudo-quarantine and into the display. (somehow my quarantine ended up with vho, live rock and coral in/on it:)

There is a little confustion on sifferent sites in the difference between Cirrhilabrus rubripinnis and Cirrhilabrus rubriventralis I see there pictures interchanged quit often. I the pic I think the first one is rubripinnis and the second is rubriventralis.

any LFS in your area should be able to order one. I wouldn't get the dissapearing wrasse. I was holding one for a while and he was a complete pain in the butt. He attached everything, ate every shrimp and picked on other fish. He is sure to be a problem with fairies...

Unforantly I live in an area with very few LFS. The one good one can't get specific fairy wrasses easily. The only other option within 1 hour drive are petco and a petsmart that is going in now. :(

I was thinking of more of an online vendor.

fishermania,

These photos illustrate as follows,

1 C. solorensis, large female
2 & 3 C. rubripinnis, males
4, 5 & 6 C. rubriventralis, all males

H. tanaka, your knowledge always amazes me!
I actually had a question. Have you ever heard of C. Tibicense? These are on my aussie list but i cannot find it anywhere at all. common name says tibicens fairy wrasse. Im going to get some in to see what they are.. lol but didn't know if you had any idea of what it is, or new anything about it. I thought maybe it was temmnickii?

thanks for the help

There is no name for Cirrhilabrus 'tibicensi' in the list of the genus. Probably it is C. punctatus but I am not sure.

C. temminckii does not occur but the close C. punctatus exists in eastern Australia.
