thanks for the info.. i had three of them... all started out as same size.. now one is larger and more colorfull then the other two..

the now smaller ones are more of redish than purple..

so i assume large is male small are felmale?

I have a solar fairy wrasse and would like to add a flasher wrasse, but not sure which. And would this cause any conflict with the solar wrasse ?

I have 100 gallon tank with a purple tang, jawfish, solar wrasse and yellow coris wrasse.

I am looking to add 3 wrasses to my 75 gal tank with 2 percula clowns ,a leopard and a blue spotted wrasse,purple fire fish,lawnmower blenny,and a cleaner shrimp.
McCoskers flasher
Blue flasher
and a painted fairy or clown fairy
My question is will these 3 fish be ok together? My main concern is the fairy,due to my reading reading reading this fish may be a bit aggressive and that bothers me.Would there be a better choice ?
All my fish get along great with zero aggression and I would like to keep it that way. thanks

A 75 gallon may be a bit on the smallish side for C. solorensis (tapmorf's 100 should be quite fine) but there will be no aggression with McCoskers or Blue Flasher wrasses. However all three of these do jump so the tank had best be covered (not with egg crate).

c. roseafascia is differentiated from c. lanceolatus by a black spot on the ventral fins. If it is the latter, you got a rather rare fish. c. roseafascia can be somewhat aggressive to later additions of similarly shaped/colored cousins especially in smallish tanks.

it is a a black spot on its ventral fins...it is in qt right now and is doing fine so far...eating good and such and is always on the move...good signs so far...i have a new 180 gal tank this guy is going in...with my two exqusites

c. roseafascia is uncommon as well but not as rare as c. lanceolatus. They are a very hardy fish and nicely colored. Enjoy, they are great fish. Your 180g will be perfect!

yes i love the color...got him for $80 don't know if that is good or bad...but really cool fish...can't wait to see him display...should be real nice i wil get pics when i get him in the display tank...can't wait he is still doing fine

Thanks for the help my canopy is 12 inches tall and my lights lower into the open canopy so I am hoping I will be ok.

i have a solorensis in a spiecmen cup for three days now and he has been eating well and swims around alot in the cup..what i want to know is how much longer i should keep him in there.. i have a red finned and capenters in the tank with this guy...the red finned is always at the cup and the solorensis does try to nip at the red finned through the cup and the red finned does the same back...i just don't know if i should let him out yet or wait a few more days to see if the still do they same..the red finned is very aggresive to my chromis...chases them alot and will display to them and the solorensis..i have seen the solor display some back to the red finned..i just want to get some input on when i should let the new guy out...

I do not own nor have I owned a C. rubripinnis but it is my recollection that they are one of the more aggressive of the fairy wrasses. Carpenters should be fine, however. Assuming you only have one place to put your new fish, I don't think additional time in isolation will help. Once a new fish is actively eating and acting out, s(he) is ready as they will ever be.

thanks for the info...i have another tank but it is going to be full after i add my roseafascia so i guees i could always try that tank also it is larger but has quite a few fairy wrasses in it..i am thinking i will let him out at night when the lights are out or do you think it will matter much???

No, it is always best to release at night. Alternatively, if you cannot, release when you feed the tank; it distracts the rest of the inhabitants.

thanks steve..i thought that was the best time to release him...just wanted to makes sure...the rosefascia is sitll doing good in qt....i can't wait to put that guy in...i love the color of that fish.

well that c rupripinnis was all over the solorensis toady so i moved redfinned to one of my other tanks and maybe release back in in a few weeks..if he is still all on the new guy might have to try him in one of the other tanks...he is for sure mean...i have had 3 of these guys before with no probs at all....guess this one is just a bad @## dude....

Well it depends on how he perceives occupants of his ecological niche. I have heard that c rupripinnis can be nasty which is why I have not added one to either of my tanks.

he is very nast for sure...if he is still the same i just might put him in my 55 by himself...i had a flasher in there but moved him that might have to be the way i go..or i guess i could always trade him i just hate to do that never get much for them...but the solorensis is doing great out and about and the caprenters has flashed him a few times and the new guy is like so what!!! but i do have a female for the solorrensis so hopfully he won't lose too much color.
