Fairy wrasse question

I just purchased a juvinile fairy wrasse and I was wondering, as it gets older (and thus larger) will it eventually become male or does it need to be kept in a group (with other juviniles/females) to do so?

I had a labouti female that turned male in a couple months time and I have a flame female that has not turned in almost a year.

thanks for the responses guys! I was also wondering if having males of other species of fairies would have any influence? :fish1::fish1:

From my experience with fairy wrasses. Almost all of them will turn male if they are single.
I have a male rhomboid and bought 2 females for him and now have 3 males. Go figure.
I had a big male hawaiian flame and added a female. In this case the female turned male and my old male died. Must be a fraternity thing. LOL

Yes, with Flames, that is often the case. Best way to get a male is to acquire multiple females, ideally of different sizes.
