Fall 2009 swap: looking for a home

Even though we just finished one event, and even though we have another one in two months, we need to start thinking about our Fall 2009 swap. We usually hold this in October, and we are now starting to look for a venue. Our last couple of fall swaps were in Wilkes-Barre, and York.

So, we're looking for suggestions of a location. it's especially nice when we have a club member who is local and who can check out locations and help us coordinate. So if you have some idea of a place near you and willing to help nail it down, or even if you just have a suggestion, please post here, or send me an email.

Thanks!
Scott

Hazletons nice... I80, I81, 309, 93, turnpike, etc all pass thru except the turnpike that is 20 mins away in lehighton.

dont forget about the great swap we had last fall at the northamptom community center with something fishy as a sponsor and host.i will check with todd and see if he is interested in doing something similar.

well they have a larger ball room that holds a lot more people.we chose to rent the smaller room given the estimated size of the group was less back then.either way the support we got from something fishy and the vendors was great and the area is a nice location being close to philly, allentown ,new jersey,etc...Its hard to beat IMO:rollface:

Larry Flint is going to post sometime (I think) about the possibility of having it in Williamsport, at his school. Something Fishy is a nice place, too, where folks can have fun having a nice store nearby. We could always look for a different hall if the one we used wasn't quite big enough.

I think being consistant is going to be beneficial long term. With the awesome turnout at Allentown/SF sponsor location I think we should pursue this and keep things rolling there.

I don't know if Todd would like to be a sponsor for the next one, but we should keep that an option and ask.

I liked the location and with a bigger hall right in the same building as the previous swap, people will get familiar with that location. Being familar tends to bring swappers, vendors, and new hobbyists. With our current growth, consistency, and hobby presence, we should keep it in the allentown area if not the same hall.

Just my 2 cents...

well williamsport is a nice little town .but allentown is a much more populated area and is likely to draw a bigger crowd.maybe we can have a small meeting/swap at williamsport at another time so we dont break the momentum we have with the spring and fall swaps being somewhat consistent

I agree that we should keep consistant with locations that do good. but maybe additional locations should be tried with smaller scale plans in between? Lets try to incorporate the schools into this as well so the youth can learn from the group as well

I agree with the above statements! I think we are on to something good here and should keep up the good work!

Thanks all for your imput. Anyone else have any ideas or things we can work on as a group pertaining to the swap?
