Fall CORA Old School Frag Swap

Hi,

I like the location, it's like 5 minutes from my brother-in-law's house. Do we have to pay $20 per table to sell our frags?
Is this the Columbus version of the Fall All Ohio Frag swap?

Our swaps have been getting bigger and bigger, not sure about the smaller location idea. It seemed as though the Columbus swap was still growing too. Has attendance been down for you guys?

That would be my concern. At times we have been cramped in the larger space.

Hi Erik,

That's why I was asking if this was the Fall version of the All Ohio swap or another smaller swap CORA is holding.

You guys will have to ask the CORA officers on that one. From what it looks like, there will be no "All Ohio Frag Swap" in Columbus this year. :( This smaller scale swap is all that is planned as far as I know. I really thought they would have consulted with your officers and let them know the plan since we have worked together for the last several years promoting the "All Ohio Frag Swap" events. Guess not.

The Cincinnati club is still planning their larger scale swap this fall. Its October 18th. A couple weeks before the CORA swap. May be able to get with them and see if they are interested in keeping the "All Ohio Frag Swap" fall event going as their swap this year. I know their attendance has been growing allot the last couple years. I am planning on attending.

Vendors are only allowed the small space (approx. 24 x 12) that everyone else is allowed, and only allowed to purchase one space.

Although I like the idea of a grassroots type of frag swap, it is disappointing to see the fall All Ohio Swap go:(

Yeah, to bad they didn't do this as a side thing for them. I can't see them getting the big draw from the cleveland area or other states now.
:(

Maybe it might not be a bad idea though. More casual, come check it out, buy your frags, trade your frags then hit the local shops and do lunch with a group of reefers and head home.

I guess no one will no till it happens..Best of luck cora guys

Without the vendors the space is about the same. The Cinci swap that Larry is promoting and attending as a vendor does cut into attendance for the Columbus swap. So without those numbers the Columbus swap is smaller in attendance. The room is free for the club, admission is free and you only need to purchase a table if you plan on setting up a tank. I am not involved with the inner working of the club any longer but I like the idea of taking the swap back to actually trading coral, and not an avenue for a vendor to line his pockets hacking up wild colonies :)

Since vendors were the hinge pins for swapping it never made sense to me to invite the wolves into the chicken's pens.

I can see both sides and understand a club has to do what is in the best interest of its members. Personally, I think involving vendors does attract more people from a farther distance. Plus, we had some vendors come in from a considerable distance this spring so it was interesting to see what they had to offer.

Either way, grass roots or with a commercial presence I will likely be there.
