I've always thought it was interesting that we call it a frag swap, but really the only swapping being done is through the CDP tank. The author of that article calls it a coral flea market, which is really much more accurate. I love the events. There's not much more fun to be had in our hobby than to walk through the treasure trove of goodies on display under those blue lights.
I certainly haven't used the CDP to it's full potential, but I think it's one of the biggest benefits of being a club member. Amongst our own tanks, we probably have the ability to donate to other club members pretty much any coral that is for sale during our frag swap. I know there will be exceptions with rare or new pieces, but for the average guy, why spend your hard earned money on a coral that a friend already has?
As a club, I think it would be fun to seek out a piece or two at every frag swap that isn't already listed in the CDP, pool some money if needed, and get some new stuff into the mix.
