What TEMP can I keep my tank at Nov thru March to keep my electric bill under control?

Tank: 180g DT plus 100g sump in basement
Tangs: yellow, clown, sailfin, hippo

I know a few reefers who let their tanks drop as low as 73 during the winter including a Tank of the Month recipient, but I keep mine at a 75 minimum.

I have a blue hippo tang that's in QT temperature between 65-70. Treating with Prazipro and fresh water dips. Been in there for 60 days

What temperature do you run your house at? Figure most tanks add a couple of degrees of heat to the water, so anything much more than 2 degrees above ambient will cost you electricity $. More higher, more $. I don't think I'd go much below 75 though.

My DT is between 79-80. My QT is in my garage and temperature fluctuates like crazy but it's the only place that I can fit a QT. with temperatures cooling in the winter months I have to run 3 heaters just to keep it at 65-70. If I ran it higher to like 78 the temperature drop from 78 to 65 is way too much. So I'm ok with 65-70 within a 24 hour period

So far my blue hippo tang is doing good. Getting fat and healthy. No signs of any fish disease.

I keep my tank at ~79.5 year round. I would rather pay the extra money every month to "ensure" the safety of my fish and corals. Just my .02 though

I wouldnt think a couple of degrees would save enough money to make it worth it. Maybe a freshwater tank would be a better option for you. Sell off the saltwater, pay your electric bills for the winter and get a killer freshwater tank
