Misled

Seems like we are going to have a long leaf season with all the rain we've been having. Some have changed, some haven't started yet. Today.

That looks a lot better than it ever did here . The leaves didn't change here, they were green one day, then it snowed and the temp was around zero for a few days, and the leaves just shriveled up and fell off. Now all the trees are bare or have shriveled up dead leaves on them :p.

Yesterday in Chicago. Can still see a ton of green! Hoping the rain today doesn't knock too many leaves off.

I love the blurred water effect. Getting the fan shape and the straight blur in beerguy's #2 is easy. Gosh, that sounds nasty, beerguy's #2! Let's go with his "second shot". I find the swirling curve at about 7:00 in his first shot way more visually interesting.

I also like the visually contrasting elements of the leaves, wood, stone and water. Each brings something to the party. And the motion contrast of the stillness of the leaves with the water. Yummy.

Doug, you should just create a "Let me know when your photos look like these" forum for your work. :D

A little east verse west (very far North west) for ya.. can you guess which is which... :)

Just a quick observation maybe. Everybody's pics are great except Doug's have something very different about them. The other people's shots look extremely sharp (bad way to put it as Doug's are as well), except Doug's pics have a soft look to them. Is it better lighting on that day? Post processing?

They're still sharp but it overall has a soft look to it. More contrast in other's pics? Is it somewhat of an illusion because of the flowing water? I can't pinpoint it but I like it. Are you duplicating the layer and applying a slight gaussian blur and blending it?
