Falling Maxi jet

What can I do to prevent my maxijet powerheads from falling, without spending $50 on magnets? could I glue them to the glass? lol But seriously I came home tonight to see some beautiful corals covered in sand. I think I was quick enough to save all of them. I hope.

Thanks

Matt

get stronger suction cups... thats what I had to do.
I have mine modded so yeah it fell one day.. and instantly covered the tank in sand

trust me...spend the money on the magnets. its worth the cost. my magnets have never failed and its easy to move the powerhead to clean the glass.

also, if you do the maxijet mod, the magnets help.

+1 to epleeds. I used the suction cups and left for a weekend trip, to come home to 1/2 my corals dead because they were buried (suction cups gave out).

suction cups will always fail at some point in time. you dont need to buy the maxijet magnets, you can use any type of large algae scraper magnet. you can always check the used forums.

The magnets I think Dr. FosterSmith had them on sale for like $17 bucks, I also had the same problems with the suction cups,I spend the extra money on the magnets and they work perfect.

Do a google search on epoxy coated magnets. A bunch of those and supergule gel can go a long way.

I ordered 20 of the rubber coated magnets fro khmagnetics.com. each one is $.95 but will decrease in increments of 10. These work great and since they're rubber coated, reef safe. I've got a 125 gallon with 3/8 glass as well and they hold very well. I've currently got them holding up my frags and egg crates. For heavier items, you could use 2 magnets on the inside and 2 on the outside and that will hold your maxijet. Link to magnets I got are below. I can upload pics tonight of my setup if that helps, but I assure you that these work and you'll be spending less then $4 to do this mod.

Here's a good solution.

The maxi jet slides on to the adjustable part.
