First of all, everyone is entitled to their own opinion and that is what i am giving here in this post. Having said that, this is my opinion on the "72" day fallow period everyone keeps throwing around here...don't bother with it, just a waste of time. Again, my 2 cents.
This has now been my 2nd fallow attempt to rid my tank of whatever is causing me issues and it has failed again. Here's the details:
Last fish was removed from DT on 4/28
on 5/20 I acquired 2 fish from a local reefer that were in his DT for 5+ years with no issues and I have seen these fish several times over time and have verified this. They are both tangs and I put them in my QT on 5/20. The QT was bleached and sterilized and re-cycled.
Both were treated with prazi (2 rounds) and CP for 21 days and did very well. One of the tangs (chevron) developed some kind of anchor worm issue 2 weeks after the CP treatment which came and went every few days. As of last week i have placed him in another friend's QT tank to see how he does and he is doing a lot better. The other tang, a thompson's tang has never displayed any issue whatsoever and has been clean since the day i got him, so in the DT he went on 8/29.
So my DT has been fallow for 4 months with nothing added to it and this fish has been in QT for 3 months+ with a clean bill of health. Now 1 week later after adding him to the DT, he has what appears to be ich...white dots on him...not covered by any means...but he does have them. Aside from seeing this on him...he still acts normally and eats great and does not flash or scratch or do anything like that but this is aggravating to say the least :sad2:....I don't care what anyone tells me anymore...fallow periods are a waste of time, period. Would like to see someone explain this to me.
