Fallow questions

After a huge ich outbreak and the newbie mistake of not QT new fish. I am going fallow with my only remaining fish a lawnmower blenny. He will be going to QT tank and my 30gal going fallow. I did a 50% water change on the DT and is now fallow with a rose anemone, 2 peppermint shrimp, elephant slug, hermit crabs, live rock and coral. This will run 12 weeks

On the QT tank I will be running a HOB with sponge only while I run cupramine and prazipro.

what type of filter should I continue running on the DT tank? Carbon? Sponge?

I noticed these tiny white insects running around the filter edge when I stopped it, what are they? (see attachment)

Any suggestions for the fallow or QT will be appreciated. Thanks

What is your system setup like (Sump or sumpless?) not sure you need to run a filter if you have live rock and such.

The white insects are probably pods. How old is your system? Did you start with live rock & live sand?

I would just leave the filter on the DT running. You want to keep it cycled so that after the QT period is over you don't have to start all over again. Bugs are pods and usually a good source of food for the fish when they get back in. It has been said this is a good time to work on your aquascape and any livestock that is not fish in the DT.

How long are you running Fallow? The recommendation is minimum 4 weeks with the longest known ich cycle being 70 something days as I remember it. Sorry i dont recall the exact number recorded. Here is a good post on ich.

Im going to run 11 weeks which equals 77 days. If I'm going fallow i want to make sure the ich gone. From the on will QT all fish for 4weeks before enteting DT

I would use the tank transfer method instead of treating with copper, it is a lot less stressful to the fish. Treat the fish with PraziPro on the second and third transfers.
