False Perc Breeding Questions

Just a couple questions:

How long does it take before false percs will mate?

Will the eggs be eaten by the other fish in my tank?

Tank consists of coral beauty, pair of false percs, 3 blue/green chromis, 1 green mandarin, chalk bass, about 15 crabs (blue leg and brown leg), 2 peppermint shrimp, sandsifting star, and about 150 snails

1. I have seen some start spawning as early as 1.5 years old and some never spawn, it really depends on the conditions of the tank. Good constant water parameters, and they feel safe.

2. They can be eaten from other fish, and inverts but usually the ocy's fend them off. After they hatch though is a different story.

I'm assuming there are methods to moving the eggs and what not...thank you....are there any signs that they are ready to mate/lay eggs?

I put a ceramic bathroom tile in the spot they lay their eggs so they will lay on the tile for easy removal the night they will hatch.

A couple things will be the female about an inch bigger than the male, and you will see them both biting at a certain area to clean off a spot to lay their eggs, this cleaning can go on for months though without laying eggs, once they are ready though they will start laying eggs every 2 weeks or so unless something changes.

Alot of people including me breed and sell clowns.

I suggest getting the book clowfishies by joyce wilkerson if your intrested in breeding clowns, lots of great info.
