false percs and rbta

I have a mated pair of false percs and added a puple tipped rbta to the tank on sunday(yesterday) at about noon. So far the fish have zero interest in hosting. Is this normal? I had a gbta and a tomato that jumped right in in an older set up. i was wondering if aqua cultured clowns loose the natural attraction to nems in aquaria.

False percs don't naturally host BTAs so it may take some time for them to do it, if at all. It all depends on the fish I guess. My pair took a couple months to host my BTA. From what I've read, aqua culturing doesn't affect a clowns desire to host.

Same. Not a lot of real conclusive research out right now on the subject (heck, we still don't fully understand what gives them their immunity to the stings) but personally I don't think that captive bred clowns have any reduction in desire or ability to host.

Tomato clowns are naturally found in E. Quad, while Ocellaris clowns are not, which I feel explains, at least in part, why there's such a drastic difference in the time it takes them to host.

thanks for all the info. just after lights out in the tank there seemed to be some interest from the female. after watching her for about an hour close in then retreat, she went for it! she kept the male at bay while "testing the waters" so to speak. yet this morning they were both in thier new home. sweeeeet.

Wow it only took them one night to host the RBTA? Thats some luck you had, there usually it takes weeks or months for an ocellaris to accept a bta. Pictures please! :)

my camera is out of the house untill around 9pm est. i will try to get some up after that or wed. im not too crafty when it comes to posting pics. i always screw somthing up. i just picked up a polorizer so this will give me a chance to try it out. thanks again. Met
