False percs-mated pair question

I bought a mated pair of false percs about 6 months ago. They came from a local guy who had them together in his tank for the last 3.5 years.

Yesterday, i found that the male(i assume he was the male as he was smaller) had jumped to his death:( he somehow jumped right thru the tiny opening in my screening where the overflow is and the screening doesnt quite hit the tank:confused:

My question is, since this pair was together so long and so close(they were ALWAYS together) can i get another male? If i do, will this female just beat him up and kill him or do you think they will get along?

I've had single clowns for years but this was my 1st pair so i dont have much experience with pairs. I would REALLY appreciate any advice you can give me!

Cool, thank you!

This clown was definitely a jumper! He jumped into my overflows literally about 15 times in the last 6 months. One time i miraculously looked and he had just jumped out of the tank but i got him back in and he was fine. I put "gutter guard" in my overflows and between the tank and canopy but there was a tiny little gap where it wouldnt meet right at the overflow.

I can't believe that he made it out that tiny little opening but somehow he did??? Needless to say, my 5 and 3 year olds arent to happy:(
