Ive had a Heteractis magnifica in my tank for a couple of months now and i just recently got it a pair of false percs , the female is like 4.5" and the male is a little over 2", they have been in the tank with the anemone for over three weeks now, sadly they do not have a clue of what an anemone is or what it is for lol because they dont go within 2 feet of the anemone, is there any tactics i can use to get them to go in it? most likely they are tank bread and thats why they do not go inside but ive heard of people using something called the "scare tactic" where they print out a picture of a predator fish and tape it to the fish tank, and this is supposed to sometimes scare the fish into the anemone? any suggestions?

Give it time. They usually stay within a defined territory. You can attempt to feed closer to the opposing side so they have to travel some. Other then that, let them do their thing. Sometimes they just need to touch it and get used to it, or see another fish inside it.

I agree with Grunt.... If you cant wait. You can try to herd them closer to the anom....Then "Thump" underwater. This will scare the fish. There instinct is to "run for cover" which is the anom.I have done this several times with out stressing the fish too bad.You can try it......

I have a rbta and put a pair of tank breed false percs. Its been 4 months and To this day they have not hosted the rbta. At first they just stayed in one place but now they swim really close and somtimed touch the tenacles. seems they have become more comfortable every day and now swim all over. I hope theyll host soon.

take a picture of clowns hosting and put in on the side of the tank. Thats how i got my false to host i know it sounds stupid but it works! ha

I have put a small clarkii in the tank and allowed the desired pair to kick it out and take over. You can get the clarkii out afterward.
