False vs. True Percs?

I recently lost my female false-perc and was thinking about getting a new pair (lonely male will be moved to my nano). My wife is interested in true percs rather than the false ones. What is the real difference between the two? I understand their coloring is different, anything else? My false ones were hosting in my RBTA's so hopefully a pair of Percs would take to them as well. Thanks for the help.

false percs tend to be hardier than true percs as most false percs are tank bred. mine just spawned yesterday by their anemone.

I have a mated pair of false percs (ocellaris clowns) and they are really fun to watch! Not much different in color or temperment between false and true in my experience.

Live aquaria states that Oscellaris clowns are more "drab" in color, is that true? I thought my Oscellaris were colored great, I always thought true Percs were less vividly colored.

The real noticable difference is the eyes. True percs tend to have a more orange eye, where false percs tend to have an all black eye with an orange outline. My spawning false pair have great color. The larger female has more of a darker orange, but the male is a more vibrant orange.

When they swim in the ritteri the contrast of color is pretty cool. Therefore I say go with the false percs.

I would agree about the 'drabness'. I went to a few different stores and took a look at true-percs. I really like the coloring on them and it's neat how some have more black than others. My Ocellaris clowns had vivid coloring. I think I'll end up getting a pair of Percs and letting my lonely male live in my nano by himself.
