Fancy Wrasses

Where does someone purchase some of the not so common fancy wrasses like a diamond tail flasher, or an earli fairy wrasse or Vanuatu pyle fairy? I know LA DD, is good for others wrasses like flames & eightlines, etc... but I haven't seen the ones I mentioned there. It's there another dealer or online store?

Thanks

I just got a male and female pair of McCosker's wrasses from Vivid Aquariums. They were the only place, after months of searching that could get me a female. You could ask them, so far I'm happy with experience with them. They were very fast and responsive to questions and my requests.

I was lucky and found mike swimming in the sale tanks at my lfs. All were eating prepared and frozen foods within their tanks and immediately upon hitting my dt.

Also....I found a supermale lineatus for $35 from my lfs. He had it labeled as a velvet wrasse :)

NY Aquatic is the only place to get diamond tail flashers. He will also have C. lunatus and C. cf. lanceolatus whenever they are available.

Pacific Island Aquatics was good for C. johnsoni and P. bellae, but he is moving on to other ventures.

I personally am fortunate to have good LFS near me to get these and other rarities.

Thanks, I've used vivid before and they are great! As is LA. I recently got a linespot flasher from them.
My lfs get very run of the mill stuff. I wish I could get a lucky find like that, a mislabeled liniatus for $35.
But even that, I know vivid & LA has those & flames too, that are awesome too. But I'm looking for the more uncommon ones I see everyone gets except me, lol.
I'll keep an eye out on NYA. Thanks. I'll post my find when I get one. :)

Most LFS can get them from their suppliers if you ask. A lot of LFS dont bring in these types of wrasses because they are a risk and a high ticket item. Just ask a good LFS and they could get most of them if they really tried.

Ok, not quite the DiamondTail I was hoping for but... I took the advise and asked my LFS for what she could get me and the came back w a Naoko Fairy Wrasse, and for $35. Its been in the acclimation box since friday and it is eating like a pig!! Im very happy w it, because I felt I needed some yellow in my tank and needed a wrasse that didnt grow to big as my tank is pretty much stocked.

Nice wrasse, very good price

Thanks. Thats why I jumped on it, price. Plus I do like its yellow streak.

Ive been checking NYA regularly, but have yet to find something. For now, I think my 5 wrasses will hold me down for a while.

... diamond tail and cf lancelatous

The only wrasse Ill make an exception for now is a diamondtail. just cuz they hardly come around. every other wrasse need to wait til I upgrade and I CANNOT wait til I upgrade!

woah!!! Its soooooo BEAUTIFUL!!!!
Thanks for the heads up. I Didnt know what they fetched, slightly over my budget for now. -_-

Maybe if I sell a couple of my RBTAs

IIRC NYA can be a little sketchy.
PIA got rare stuff in a lot, but they just closed down, but the owner is going to the east coast. Salty Aquaria gets some rare stuff, some high end coral stores will get rare fish in too time to time.

I'll keep on eye on salty aquaria for the next time, along w NYA, bluezoo & pia/nicewrasses (if they return). Thanks all.

Nope, not true :) Blue zoo aquatics has them from time to time in their Collector's Choice section but they sell out very very fast.

You're right, bt NYA gets diamondtails in every time he brings in Kenyan fishes, whereas other collectors in Kenya only ship them to their U.S. distributors periodically.

IIRC NYA can be a little sketchy.

I have only had good experiences with NYA. The owner, Michael is a good guy and they offer a good guarantee.

Btw if a diamond tail is out of your budget, then an earlei will definitely be. They are 2.5-3x the price of the diamond tail
