Fang blenny (meiacanthus)

Anyone have any experience with these blenny's? I'm thinking of adding one to a tank with really passive fish and wondering whether this would work. My main other questions are how hardy are they and how peaceful? Scott Michael recommends keeping them singly but I notice divers den has been selling them in groups of three: which is a better arrangement?
Thanks,
Myles

I once bought one years ago sold to me labeled as a canary blenny, which sounded a lot cuter than fang, but fang seemed to be a better name, as on intro it went straight to a couple snails and just bit them.
Apparently they have a poisonous bite, not harmful to us really but to inverts, so just be advised that may be an issue to be aware of.

I had a couple of Smith blennys that I bought off DD as a pair a couple of years ago. The they fought all the time since day 1, didn't bother anything else though. Very passive towards other fish, even other blennys like a midas and tailspot. They both would sleep upright in the same corner of the tank which I thought was wierd. I eventually had to get rid the smaller one due to aggression towards eachother.

If you want a pretty yellow fish get a Golden Midas Blenny, the fang blenny is venomous and if it bites other critters in your tank they die. For this reason I won't buy one and got the Midas Blenny instead.

I agree, and I was actually seeking out a midas when I was sold the canary/fang as an alternative, figured how can I go wrong w/ something named canary, DOH!
Though the midas does get a bit bigger than the fang, I'll take their fairly peaceful nature over a fang any day.

Thanks everyone. Biting snails is a deal breaker for me because I've got an extra large abalone which is my girlfriend's favorite mobile animal in the tank.
Can't get the midas blenny as I've already got a yellow eyed blenny and I'm guessing they would fight as they're from the same genus.
I guess I'll have to look elsewhere for something super peaceful that would still be out all the time.

I purchased a fang blenny as my first fish and he was a great fish. Never touched anything in the tank and was extremely passive. He was my favorite fish by far until he went carpet surfing about 6 months ago.

I've had great experiences with the striped fang blenny, cool fish and didn't bother any other fish.
