Fat Bully Sailfin

Well besides being in too small of a tank, I think your sail fin looks very good. He has good color, nice fin display and looks well fed. He also seems to be enjoying being the terror of the tank. It is probably a good idea to see if you can get a store credit for him or trade him to someone else.

if the clowns have claimed territories on opposite sides of the tank like i believe you described above then in my opinion you got lucky and they should work out. but as for the gender changing.. once a female there is no changing sex its the last step and its irreversible. and from the sounds of it you likely have a male and female in both groups instead of your original theory of a female and bunch of males.

I'm thinking you're right, I just got lucky. My orange pair is clearly a pair, because the male is half the size of his woman and she sure shows him who is boss. They stay under a bunch of live rock all the time, but my black pair go wherever, but stay towards the back right. If there is any sort of pushing or attempted bulling, it's always her towards all three. But what I don't get is my black ones are both the same size as the orange female and they are both super submissive. Every time the female comes around they do the tuna dance. I have no idea what's up with those clowns. (Puns for days)

We've all ended up with the 'wrong fish' at some point, regardless of the reason. Anyone who says they haven't is being dishonest :). The issue with some tangs (with Hippo and Sailfin at the top of the list) is that crowded quarters can make them crazy and then you have a problem on your hands. If that happens, return it to the same LFS that sold it to you in the first place.

I learned my lesson for sure *sigh* I'll always do what's best for them and not for me though, so back he goes. Maybe I can search for someone to take him, I don't want him to go from like 75 to....an unsuspecting 55 or something.

Good call, it's so rare these days for people to post here, and then actually take the advice.

That's sad, that means they just only want to hear what they want to hear. It just might be a weekend or two because this heat wave is almost killing my 2 Newfoundlands that I have outside. I've only been doing this for a little over two years so I'm practically a newb.
