Do anyone know if consumers can take actions against manufactures for producing faulty aquarium products or laws that protect pet owners from manufactures?
I'm not sure if it is binding but the warranty/liability disclosure on most products state they will only cover loss up to the original purchasing price of the item...
Did you loose fish or corals? A lawsuit typically wouldn't cover them, just material items. Look at the lawsuits over the wheat gluton. Their S O L and their dogs and cats died.
I think in California dogs and cats are considered personal property.. Thats what the lawyer told one of my friends whose dog died... They can sue for property damage or something like that...
Good Luck with whatever happened.. Let us know what product it was so we can steer clear or at least have a heads up on it...
Sure personal property, you get what they cost You can't ask for more as you felt it was a family member.
My sister is a vet and dealing with 3 cases of dead cats (one dog) due to the "wheat gluton". It's a sad deal all around. Now they foudn it in fish feeds as well. Time to start looking at what your feeding your fish
Thats a bummer.. I'm gonna have to check my fish food... I feed about a pound of pellets a week to one of my tanks... Nothing has died yet.. That would suck to lose an animal because the food you gave them was contaminated...
The thing is that the animal feeds are not contimanated. The "rat poisen" didn't accidently make it into the feed, it was used as a source of nitrogen (to pad the nutritional profile) IIRC. The news has been miss reporting up until recently on this event. China says they see no problem doing this
We don't use any wheat gluton from any country so your absolutly right Jim Even the Otohime we sell that comes from Japan is not Chinese wheat gluton sourced. The makers of Otohime are far more quality control oriented then to use an inferior wheat gluton cut with some agent
