Faulty Eheim Autofeeder

I purchased an Eheim autofeeder about eight months ago. Lately, it has simply stopped working. It will not turn the barrel even when I push the EHeim button. The batteries are new. After it stops working, if I take the batteries out and then put them back in again, it will work correctly. However, when I check it the next day, it won't turn. I take the batteries out again, put them back, and it will work fine for the next several hours, but it still will not work the next day. Is there anything that I can do about this?

Thank you for your post, I'm sorry to hear about the trouble your having with your eheim feeder. There are some causes for this malfunction, 1st needing to be cleaned, sometimes food particle build up will get into the gears or the turning mechanism itself, so you want to make sure the area is free of debris or foreign matter by cleaning the unit regularly and lubricating the gears inside. 2nd. Would be moisture, coming from either high evaporation rates, being accidently being knocked over in to a wet area of your tank or simply the unit falling into the tank itself, in those cases the unit will cease to function completely. 3rd, Would be the contact points where the batteries sit in, sometimes over time the points will get pushed in to the point that it will only make contact when the unit sits a certain way or simply the battery moves out of place. Simple solution would be to gently pull the tabs out a bit so there is a better contact with the battery.
