As stated, I have found some need almost no light at all. You will get deep colors if you place this under a ledge etc and just forget about it. Pending all params are correct.

Is it a slow grower then?

I had a small bright green favia 6" under a 400W MH and it was growing about an 1/8" a month.

So. I put it in a darker lower spot and have been feeding it Restor. It's recovering exceptionally well and even generating new polyps!

Glad to read it's making a good recovery. I have one very similar that is very tolerant of light conditions but really appreciates being fed. I give it spectrum pellets, (broken up) when the lights are about to come on and it seems to be very happy.

Not to hijack the thread, but I am following along in the mindset of purchasing one real soon. I am just curious why all the research I have found states moderate light and flow.

Not sure, but in my experience, the favias/ favids like low light. I even put one favia under a rock with no light and the colors are amazing now. JME

Got the tentacles to come out
