Whats the best placement of this coral. Right now its on my sand bed and i'm running T5's. My tank is 30" deep. Ive had this coral about 2 1/2 mths now and i've occasionally seen feeder tentacles at night when all lights are off.
Now i know its still alive cause the color is still there and its not faded at all.
just want to know if it requires any special feeding or anything

thanks

They can adapt but general lighting should be medium. I have one on my sand bed 22" deep under metal halides and one a quarter way up from the bottom and both are doing very well. You can even move it up a little under T5 since you're 30" deep. Keep the flow moderate on it and you'll see it's feeders more often. For feeding, it doesn't have to be fed but it will help speed the growth. Most meaty fish foods like krill, mysis, and brine shrimp will work.

Ok, thanks squirt22.
will move it up a bit and see if that helps. In any case the spot its in now i'll just put another type of brain coral

I've personally found most of the highly colored Favias prefer lower lighting in my tanks. They will tolerate strong light but their colors definitely look best when they are kept in quite a lot of shade.

I agree with sea pug. I have. A 29" deep 165g and mine is currently sitting in some shade, and has been for a few days now. This guy has been with me since 05 and every now and then will become very temperamental with lighting. All in all there very hearty so long as they have moderate flow and you monitor how he reacts to the lighting. You can tell because his skin color changes to a more pale tone and not as puffy. When there happy there puffy. In regards to feeding them... All I do is water changes and I have 3 that have been around for many years.

I actually had that exact type of coral, and under low lighting it got more colorful, and looked better. They can do fine in higher lighting, but the colors are not as brilliant.
