Nothing to see Move along
I bought this Favia earlier this week and was told it is a Tyree Favia. Does anyone know specifically what Tyree it is?

Sure they didn't say favites?

Looks maybe a little like a purple war coral. That's pushing it, though.

Yea, it is probably a Favites, not a Favia. Why do you say that it would be pushing it to call it a purple war coral?

BTW, here is the mother colony.

Yeah, from the pics I've seen of others, WAR coral. Looks like it just needs to adjust to me. I see some potential here for a showpiece. But maybe that's just me.

Thanks! It had a rough trip to me. Next day air turned into 2 day air and it got a little cold in transit. Been in the tank for a day now and seems to be recovering nicely!

That is a beautiful Favites expample. I read that the difference between Favia and Favites is that Favites coralites share a wall (as above) while the Favia do not. That is how you tell them apart.
