I was told It was a favia but I'm not to sure myself.
So what is it Favia or Acan?

o me, the flesh on Acans (Australian ones anyways) looks a bit more like a Lobophyllia, in that it is more meaty and textured. In the walls of each polyp of most Favia, the septa are more apparent. Favia tend to look more like craters in a rock to me, and Acan polyps look a little more "joined," even though they aren't.

They can look very similar when expanded but the easy way to tell is Acans have separate polyps with no tissue between them. Yours has separate polyps with a continuous "skin" between them so it's a favia....maybe even Goniastrea?

Not true, acan echinata/subechinatas don't have seperated polyps.

But what you have is still a favia.

right....thanks for the correction. I guess I'm just going by the A. lords that are so ubiquitous nowadays.
