Favia Show Off Thread

Caddisfly those are KEEPERS! Those things rock. Love the Blue & the Multi-color both.
Where did you find those beauties?

Yeah, I agree. The yellow coming out is really too much. We have similar tastes Yikai. Nice Mumbo Jumbo Mike!

BTW, Yikai' red Favia is the species in my tank that survived the crash. The only hard coral that did.
But OMG, what is that striated thing? A Platygyra? Really UNIQUE coral there. But all of yours are insane. Simply, freakin' insane!
Love the Steel Blue & red Favia most, I think.

So we haven't run out of amazing Favia despite some lulls, GREAT.

nope that is a favia sp. not sure which species exactly. the stripes make it look cool that's why i got it.

this is a platygyra. also closely related to favias but not quite. this is mine from the same aussy shipment as the green/black striped one.

Oh my, that is unreal!!!

the blue and red favia will remain blue and red if the lighting is medium to low. when put under high lights, these yellow stripes you see developing, will start to develop and at all junctions where the blue and red meet, there will be these yellow stripes.

i found the stripes distracting so i put them under shaded lighting, and the yellow has dissapeared ever since. its just blue and red now.

Weird corallites for a Favia then, but I did see the seam between them, so its a Favia.
No need to demonstrate what a Platy is, I own a blue morph of one & had 2 before that eventually died. One because my Clownfish kept overturning & toppling it..
Unique & beautiful by any name though!
