Favia Show Off Thread

If i was to leave a christmas favia on my sand bed how would it go about growing, i know if its on rock it will make a thin calcium rock to spread its tissue on, Would it grow fast on my sand or would it spend alot of time trying to make a thick rock?

Gobygoddess: That thing rocks! What a beauty, best blue favia I've seen in months & around here that is saying a lot.
Great find!
Rob: That is looking REAL good.

Deep top down shot under leds. This coral looks completely different under blue light. Unfortunately the camera just does not do justice and cannot pic up all the highlights very well. Check out the green leading edge.

I am the most recent finder Kev, and have the whole colony. Clint at Diamonds found it before me, and not sure about before that. Will see about getting more history on it. Have been getting into favias lately, have always loved them, and was lucky enough to get this one. Got another cool different one, entire colony that will be posting pic of soon.

Nismo's Flamethrower Favia/Favites in middle, coolest War Coral I have seen. Golden centers hard to capture, this thing glows.

I want to see that orange rim beaming!!! You will have a frag, going to cut you an extra tiny lil nub for your piconano, LOL!

Little added info on the MFLF. It is from Sulawesi and was collected at about 40 feet deep.

LOL That's because this is a new split, the thread is 2 years old almost!
Nismo_32: Please, please lets see that shot.
Rob: Ditto, though I see plenty of blue in it.
