Favia Show Off Thread

I don't have anything to show off, but since there are plenty of experts in this thread I might as well ask a question here rather than start a new thread on it. Would it be possible to keep a favia in a 14 gal tank with pc lighting? or is that too small/too weak of lighting?

Here's an update for ya Matt, Pink Buster coloring back up after finally being mounted

Not an expert by any means. I think you could keep a favia or favites under PC lighting- I grew out a small favites frag under my weak PC's. If you keep up on water changes, I think you could do it with a 14 gal. How much wattage do you have? And what spectrum are the bulbs? Keeping them high in your tank will help with good coloration. Feeding it 2-3 times a week will go a long way.

Justin- that looks sick. Nice piece.

a slight correction in what I said before. I don't have pc lighting, what I actually have is high output LED's. I don't know the exact wattage or spectrum. They are 50/50's and I have two of them.

Some really nice pieces. I don't have one, anyone care to tell me how much they usually go for? Are they hard to keep? I am sure I have plenty of lighting. Has 3 MH 175 W and two 96 watt bulbs on a 90 gallon tank.

Some are fairly cheap, and some go for great sums of money. It all depends on how nice they are. They are generally pretty easy to keep. Your lighting will be fine. In fact, some may have to be shaded.

Depends on the store, the source they got it from, & how knowlegeable they all are. sometimes you can get good stuff dirt cheap. Other times, a polyp or 2 can set you back a hundred dollars.

Here's the same piece under blue leds only. Can't really see the pink as much and the camera just doesn't capture all the colors, but you get the idea.

Rob: Great Pickup! Like the play of colors on that, really has a chalice color scheme. Where can I get one?

:bum: Got very lucky and received this piece in trade from another reefer. Gonna leave his name out of it so he doesn't get bombarded. Surprised more people aren't nuts about this coral. It is the most colorful favia I have seen, gonna go look at it now...
