Justin,

Yes, its not meant as a species identifier, but as a genral rule of thumb between the two Genera. I'm sure there are some exceptions to that in BOTH genera..
That being said, there have been 2 or 3 REALLY gorgeous Favites in the thread. That painfully bright one comes to mind..
Anyway, since they are so close no one has complained. This afterall, is a thread in tribute to both a beautiful coral Genus as well as its spectacular family.

Back to the photos!

Justin,
Were just sitting on that one until things got dull on the thread on purpose! Same on you! Is that a Baby'sbreath?

The Oulophyllia is another beautiful Favid. Any one got any Goinastrea, they are supposedly even brighter than Favia but I'm yet to see one..

Matthew
Miss one darn day.. Holy *bleep*! LOL.

tee hee ;) Actually, I was sitting here knowing that it would be in my tank soon, but just had to wait for it to be shipped :D

No, not baby's breath, that one is next on my list of conquests. The frag I posted is called the "Pink Buster" favia from Aquatic Collection. Excellent resource for finding some great exotic corals, at real working man prices!! Thanks for the compliments everyone :)

BTW Sheol, I think I may have a goniastrea, not positive though. But I'll post a shot of my unknown soon. Could be a goniastrea or micro minuta, not sure.

I'll have to go back to the Coral Search page & check, but I don't ever recall a Platygyra with that small a corallite or in that gorgeous blue shade. Could also be a Goniastrea now that I think of it.. Still beautiful whatever it is...

Justin:
Aquatic Collection? Is that an on-line vendor? I must pay a visit. A very beautiful Favia. An ace up your sleeve for slower pic intervals. LOL.
