Ianiwane, see those are the kind of Favia that get me so amped up about this hobby, I am sitting here at work at 5am est looking at your pics drooling! And to think that you walked into NA & bought those right out of their tank! Man! what I wouldn't give to be able to do that. You Cali boys & girls have no idea how good you have it out there with corals!

and nothing but potential on these...

my redrum has adjusted well to high light placement.

Very nice pieces! Love the coraline on the eggcrate; mine only grows hair algae

Ian,
Save me a piece of the NA deadly kiss ;), that thing is just spectacular.

Richard, very nice :D.

Agreed, the real deal Baby's Breath is my favorite favia thus far but the Peace Coral is pretty spectacular, I am holding out for mine to grow larger before I decide which one is my top pick. I also love the War and Peace Favia...delicate little polyps with such a unique pastel color to it. All in all these three are my favorite favia's thus far. Ian turned me onto his red eyed/blue rimmed favia that blows away the Eye of Jupiter in brightness and intensity...that one is my fourth favorite. I know, all worthless without pictures, LOL.

For some of you Favia experts out there...a question,
I have a favia I picked up from Ron Johncola about a year and a half ago at the BACFM. He called it the Kong favia or something of that nature. Green rim and purple mouths. It has grown really nicely but has all but lost the green rim. It was very green when I got it. Now it is mostly purple with a slight bluish inner mouth area. I am keeping it on the bottom of the tank in the front off to the side. I was thinking it was getting to much light which led to the green fading and being replaced by the purple. Since moving it into the less light area of the tank it has continued to stay mostly purple. I, of course, want the green back for the nice contrast of color. Maybe total shade would do it. I notice there is some green down the sides where new growth is...maybe only the new growth has the green and as it grows out the inner parts become purple. Any ideas or thoughts???

Alicia, I think you are refering to the Kong's Eye, I have one and it didn't show it's full color potential until I placed it in low, low light. Maybe try shading it like you said and see if that encourages the brilliant green rim to reappear

Kev, Steve at NA actually fragged them on the spot. I think I might have been the first to get a frag of each.
Alicia, will do but it may be a while haha.

Talk about having it made in the shade :)

Kev:

Is that the one I had first, that was green & red for awhile, then browned out. Finally after 3 months, it re-colored. Now its red, purple, & green. Yeah, I think that one is called Kong's Eye or some other. Actually, I thought mine might be a Christmas. Well, if I ever manage to figure photobucket out, you may actually get to see it!
