I agree that we should all get a frag to study and decide...

Snowsurfer- Wow!! That's a beautiful Favia.

impur- Nice piece and a wicked shot.

Re: Re: great corals

wishntoboutside Very nice what ever it is.

I would need to have a piece to examine befor I could to tell for sure. If you send me a frag I can identify it for you. LOL

Snowsurfer I like that one two. Nice Pic.

percula "Awesome!! Where did you find this gorgeous piece!?"

I have a feeling you know so much for my secret connection

Joe

percula and snowsurfer great colonies and pics.

inregards to the "favican" the super model going threw the drug test.lol is there a way to tell between that i am overlooking. honestly it would be fun sending out frags to all to inquire on but to expenisve for shipping and colony is on small side( until i started feeding the heck out of it=) )
nugs your got bumped of the wait list with the acan comment. lol. have you met tjh, tim yet out there in NC. moorsville i think.
good guy.
sheol i will try to bring a frag to the Dallas CFM for you
kev. will work something out.
the debate is still out i have never had an acanthastrea so i can not tell. i may have a guest or two over the weekend to help with this. so if it is a favia great for us junkies if it is an acan bummer and life goes one.

Oh man...no fair. I was just trying to help. :smokin: No I haven't met tjh. There are a number of semi-local reefers that I need to get up with. I have enough trouble keeping money in my wallet as is. I wouldn't say that Acan would be a bummer. It's a beautiful piece either way. I would say it's an Acan because of the polyp texture, arrangement, and overall appearance.

Here's my hillae.

Here's one that even more closely resembles yours.

nugs great picture, i see what you mean too. i dont think you want to get me started on hillae pictures though i may go on for a while. lol. i am going to take another shot today midday and tonite with ligts off and see if i can conclude anything. other then i am more than exicted to be changing out some lighting. i picked up a giesemann dual 150de and t-5 set up. wahoo radiums and attincs to play with the color=). the marine depot scracth and dent sale was good to me.

Thanks. Nice new lights!! I'm sure they'll look amazing. I can't wait to see some shots of it under those.

Sweet AZZ piece Richard!!! I would lean heavily toward Acan though. So what the heck have Jen and Charles been up too these days? They seem to have fallen off the map :)

Any way tell them both I said hello and to keep on finding those Gems!! After All Jen is the OG LPS Guru in my book!!!

Well, I'll make any sacrafice for science Richard, so I'd be more than happy to examine a specimen of the suspect coral.
And a Frag is all I got room for, sadly. But I got my reef looking good again. Next month is my 3d Anniversary. What do you do for a Reefer in his 3d year? Favia are always welcome gifts I suppose..

Matthew

Debate indeed, that is a rough one in all of it's glory. Rich, I emplore you, save a piece for me ;)
So far Im stuck on either a Favites complanata, Favites paraflexuosa, Favites vasta, Favia veroni, and Favia rotundata to name a few

Justin,

Well, at least one person didn't jump on the Acan bandwagon! LOL. Either way, unique color!

I sent you an email a while back. I will send anutha!!

you may get me thinking on the Favites complanata. I actually have a colony very very similar but not blue. The eyes are orange but the body is taking on a purple hue. Picked it up a few months ago as a project coral ;)

i will have a few guest over the next few days. i will see what they say.
so the judges rulling is dead locked and still a "favican"(kenny that should be copyrighted. lol)
thanks for alls input on this so far truley appreicate it.

so whom is going to do the favia wall calander for all of us for 2009 we only have 6 months left. so many nice pictures in this thread. we truley have to do something with these. with permission of course. lol

rob.. dont be stalling on us. show us that picture of your Favites complanata.:D i am sure you have some nice jems bust out. lol

Of the ones Justin listed the Favites complanata is the only possibility. It very well could be though. I'm still leaning toward Acanthastrea at the moment though... I too would love to see the pics Rob mentioned.

RE: Calendar

Well, I just got some pics of all of mine. Now I just gotta learn how to get them here!
