This one has something living inside of it. It comes in and out every few seconds. Pretty funky, huh.

That is a barnacle, a filter feeder. You got a great shot as those eyelashes are always moving. I've never had a problem with any in my reef.

From my ID page:
This is a common hitchhiker that you'll find in a variety of stony corals. Above is a Barnacle, which will retract and extend the featherduster-like catcher's mitt used to capture particulates in the water. The coral in the background is a Galaxia. I've seen these in SPS coral, as well as Psammacora, Porites, and more. I've never observed any damage whatsoever by these creatures; rather they seem to be a symbiotic creature that lives in harmony with its host. I'd call it Reef-safe.

Is this a pineapple brain? Colors are bright green in the middle and the mouths multiply like crazy

Thats nice, i like how its grown all the way around.

Thanks. The feeders that come out of this thing are ridiculous. My Hammer is about a foot away and some of them come really close at night. This was my first coral about a year ago and it multiplies like crazy. Now I am trying to wedge a lil disc by it hoping that it spreads.

Thanks man, you wouldnt believe how small and bleached it was when I got it. Growth rate has been glacial too since its "balling" instead of plating out. It started out as a half-dollar size colony, now its a little larger than a golfball. Four and a half years of growth if you can believe it!!!

This has my vote for #1 best hitchhiker! :eek1:

ianiwane: That is REALLY different. Woner what it will finally look like?
serum153: Looks like a Goniastrea to me, or maybe a Platygyra. There are about a hundred corals with that common name, but these two are the most accurate.
Shackcs: That 3d one is a killer colony. Love the purple!

I picked up these pieces today. I will get better pics after they have settled in and began to open up.

shackcs: Lovely! Blue & purple seem to be in fashion with us "Faviaheads" this summer. Now I just have to convince the LFS.

Now I just need to start mounting these for growth.

It is official, I got bit by the favia bug. Bad. :)

shackscs, great frags all around! getting hit by the Favia bug is a good thing, there are a lot of hidden favia gems that other hobbyist don't know about yet, the SPS Heads, Acan Freaks, and Chalice Mongers don't know what they are missing out on :)

I ordered a couple different pieces today, but I've only got one in the tank at the moment. I've had it for a while now.

Looked like this when I got it just over a year ago.

Finally getting those beautiful colors on my Baby's Breath, when I got it last year it was only 3 eyes and brown, now it's looking pretty nice :)

Kev,

Man that is LOOKING nice. Getting better & better huh? LOL

Crvz:
Nice. I have that Species. They color up in time.

Matthew

Matt, it is definitely looking better & better these days, I wasn't exactly sure that I would be able to turn my little brown frag I got last year into the actual colors of the BB! I am getting more & more addicted to this hobby everyday!
