favia

I have a beautiful 4" coral that was a dark aqua green when I got it about three weeks ago. It has lost some of its color and is looking a little faded and not as dark a green now. It's polyps are out at night so it looks healthy, but I want to keep its color.
I'm wondering if I have it too high up in my tank. It's a little less than midway up in a 58g tank with 250w MH's. It's not direectly under the light and is a about 6-8" off center from them.
Any thoughts anyone

What light was it under before? My favia does not like the light too bright. I have it on the sand. Are you target feeding it?

it's a new addition to my tank, so I don't know about previous conditions. I have not target fed it

It is not uncommon for coral colors shift lighter when place in lower nutrient tank conditions and/or with a different lighting.

Being darker originally suggests to me that the previous lighting was less intense than you have now. If you want to attempt to keep the original color move it down as low as possible.

Even then nothing is a guarantee and may color shift regardless as it adapts to your tank conditions.....
