see a couple of threads in this forum popping up about carbon and such with SPS. The question is, what carbon are people using out there and why?

Ive been using Bulk Lignite from BRS.. cheap, works great and last me a long time.. I switch out my carbon every other week..

i've been using that rox carbon from bulk reef supply

Do you like the ROX? I'm thinking of switching from ESV to ROX.

i love the rox .08 from BRS. best carbon i've ever used. it's a very fine sized carbon so care must be taken with proper water flow through it as it will pack tightly together. i run it in a BRS single reactor with a slow flow rate and it works perfectly.

Do you have a link to that carbon?

I have been using Marineland Black Diamond for years now with good results.

bulkreefsupply.com ...... they have a link on the sponsors page. well worth checking out. i used black diamond before getting the rox .08 and it was good, but IMO the rox is better yet.

I used TLF and Black Diamond for years and just switched the last bucket to Seachem Matrix .I got a good deal on it . I have heard good reports on the rox.08 .

carbon helps to remove organics from the water...

it wasn't why they USE carbon, it was why they use SPECIFIC carbon....
