Feather Calurpa

Anyone know of a good place to get some feather calurpa from? I finally found a local place that has some in their tanks but they won't sell it! I've been there three times and asked different people but they won't part with it. I guess I was under the impression that everything was for sale.

http://www.florida-aqua-farms.com/ sells feather caulerpa and ships. I've had excellent service with any order that I placed with them.

"we sell only algae that have been acclimated and enhanced for a minimum of two weeks or longer in our closed facilities. Good for ammonia and nitrate removal in closed systems. Some are good live food items for invertebrates and fish. We sell only plants which are known to survive in the average marine aquarium."

Thanks for the link but their pictures aren't the best. Which kind is the feather calurpa and how many feathers would actually come on a 12 inch length of piece? I'm going to be using it in my display tank for looks so I don't need much.

assuming it is 12 inches of runners I would say you'll get probably 6 to 8 feathers. If you are talking about 12 inches of plant then you could get a single feather. I didn't check out the sight (but I have purchased from them, its not here yet) but my feater caulerpa grows about 1 feater every 2 inches or so. But it doesn't always grow in a straight line so its hard to say exactly.

I'm glad you pointed that out. Good observation. They do sell by the foot so I doubt it would be one foot long leaf. Could be though. How much do they charge for shipping?

I might try and order some things from the Gulf Coast link. They seem to have the best selection. They sell by the pint though. Any idea how much would come in a pint?

I wouldn't worry too much about how much you are getting. With most macros, especially the fast growing types, you'll have more than you need in no time.

that was the first macro i had in my 10g when i first started reefing.

i would be cautious about putting it in your main dispplay unless you lare wanting to grow a lot of macro in the main display. this stuff grows like a weed and was trimming it back constantly.

did wonders for my tank parameters and water clarity though! :)
