i got a feather duster in the mail today but in the bag its feathers were out and just flopping around and they did not retract when I picked it up. it's dead, right? i thought it should be able to retract them all the way inside the tube.
usually when frightened they retract the feathers as stated. but also if it was dead, i would assume that the feather would detach and just be floating around inside the bag...
